Environment Working Group - background
The Parish Council agreed to declare a climate emergency in February 2020, and pledged to:
- Create an Environment Working Group
- Encourage and enable our community to decrease their CO2 emissions
- Proactively reduce the council's CO2 emissions
- Take climate impact into consideration with all future decisions and actions.
The Working Group has been set up and will be headed up by three Parish Councillors – Cllr John Shoesmith, Cllr Alice Vincent and Cllr Joe Martin. The group will make recommendations for future actions and feed back to the Strategic Development Committee.
The main aims of the Working Group are to recommend some effective actions for both the council and residents of Duffield to reduce their carbon emissions, and feed these into the Strategic Development Committee; and to build engagement with the people of Duffield.
How you can help
The working group is looking for several other members from the local community. To find out more, contact the Parish Clerk.
We can all play our part in helping reduce carbon emissions by considering our carbon footprint.
The link below gives some suggestions as to how we can reduce our individual carbon emissions.
